Sobering Up Shelter & Connectors

The Sobering Up Shelter (SUS) provides a protected and supportive place for adults affected by drugs and alcohol. The site is also base for the Connectors Bus and WASP project.

The Sobering Up Shelter (SUS) is for adults affected by drug and alcohol and is a safe place to sleep off intoxication. SUS accepts people from Wyndham Police, Connectors and by voluntary referral or walk ins. 

Operating hours

Monday - Saturday morning 4:00pm - 7:00am

Open every week, all year round

We provide

  • Temporary overnight accommodation

  • 17 beds (12 men & 5 women)

  • Overnight supervision

  • Breakfast for clients

  • Advice and support, including referrals to other programs and services

The Wyndham AOD Support Project (WASP) operates out of the Sobering Up Shelter. Case managers work with clients who stay overnight and provide follow-up support in the community.

WASP is excited to launch a new diversionary music program, targeting Wyndham youth, 7 Mile Rehab residents and men at the Wyndham Work Camp.

 

WASP has three key focus areas:

  1. Develop AOD organisational awareness and staff capability

  2. Improve AOD service delivery via case management

  3. Empower client recovery and develop community AOD awareness

Connectors
(Aboriginal Community Connectors Program)

Funded by the WA Department of Communities

Connectors is transport program that helps people get where they need to go.

It aims to reduce the number of Aboriginal people in contact with the justice system, prevent crime and victimisation in Aboriginal communities, and ensure coordination with community support and law enforcement services.
